ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Coastal Uncorked Food, Wine, Beer & Spirits Festival is the Myrtle Beach, S.C. area’s premier food, wine and spirits festival. Started in 2009, Coastal Uncorked has enjoyed treating visitors and locals to the best in food, wine, spirits, arts and entertainment. Coastal Uncorked aims to shine a light on all that makes the culinary scene along the Grand Strand unique. With more restaurants per capita than any other city in the state, Myrtle Beach is home to more than 1,700 dining establishments.
How it all began…
In 2009 the festival was created by a dedicated group of volunteers whose vision was to create a food and wine festival that would draw people to our area and showcase what the Grand Strand had to offer. The next two years proved the event had staying power more than doubling the attendance from the inaugural year. Well known chefs Paula Deen and the Lee Brothers were infused into the second year event. The iron chef competition also grew in size as did the coveted wine, spirits and food tasting events. Festival goers arrived from more than 20 states and four countries. As the event progressed Coastal Uncorked added several events through the year to their roster of annual events. Farm to Table, a dinner on the farm, an oyster roast and a mixology competition all become sold out events to compliment the main festival week.
In December 2012, Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association announced the acquisition of Coastal Uncorked Food, Wine & Spirits Festival. Coastal Uncorked is the signature year round event brand for the hospitality association and is utilized to promote the culinary side of the hospitality industry and the destination. It will continue the mission of the association representing, educating & promoting the best in the hospitality & tourism industry here along the Grand Strand and grow needed scholarship dollars to keep future tourism and culinary leaders in the community.
In 2015 the festival’s moved to it’s permanent date over Labor Day Weekend and introduced the newly created Chocolate Under the Moon event featuring desserts and a moonshine mixology competition. The Grand Tasting Tent Event continued to be a huge success with 15 vineyards offering over 100 varieties of wine and food to match. The Brews ‘N The Beach event grew even more in 2015. This craft beer festival proved to be a huge success with over 15 breweries offering over 75 unique and rare beers for sampling.
